February break in Alberta...

In February we went to Alberta for a week. The main reason was because my Grandma Sargeant passed away and we went to her funeral. Then because our kids had the following week off we spent the rest of the time between Taylors and Edmonton. We also had a day at Red Deer visiting Auntie Lorna and Uncle Norman, however of course I forgot my camera that day, so no pictures of them. Also when we went to Galaxyland in WEM, I forgot the camera that day as well. However here are a few of the rest of our time. Above picture is Landen, Brodie, Kara, Danika, and Jenna all ready for Sunday meeting and playing a game on Auntie Laura's phone.

Danika up to her neck and waving...
the audience watching the musical performance...Danika, Dahlia Hughes, Duncan Hughes, Brodie, and Stratton Waltz.

The performers...Avonlea, Chet, Drisilla Waltz played beautifully on their violins...I did have a pic of them but somehow it was deleted...sorry
Nevin and Brodie enjoying the music, I don't have pics of Charlene Hughes and Stratton Waltz playing the cello or Nikki Waltz playing the piano, we sure did enjoy all the musical talent.

Playing the Fiddle with Professionals!

J.J. who unless you are in the fiddling world won't mean much to you but he is a Canadian renowned professional fiddle player from Saskatchewan that tours all over the place. He also happens to be the boyfriend of our kids fiddle teacher. So she was able to pull some strings and got him and his touring group to come to our school and preform. On top of that she got her students to preform there as well in front of the whole school...so was exciting and a little nerve wracking for them. Here is Brodie playing "Ode to Joy". The picture is a little far away as I was trying to take pictures and shoot a video clip etc. To the right of Brodie is J.J. and to the left one of the band members. All the students did very well, as most of them are first year.
Rylan Geck
Daylin Novak
Carter Novak and Danika did a duet of "Rubber Dolly"...they did so good, it is especially hard doing duets as you really have to listen to the other player.
These two are Hunter and Austin Novak.

The Mighty Hunter!!

Brodie got a beebe/pellet gun for his Birthday and here is his first kill...a chickadee..poor little thing happened to get hit with a lucky shot!

Elk!!

We saw these elk about 1/4 of a mile across the field (hence the poor quality photos) but thought I would post them anyway, you can tell what they are if you look close. The have been feeding on the farmers grain bag in the field.

The Musicians!!

Here is a little video clip of our music night with Aunt Vera before she left.... Daryl on the accordion , Nevin on the violin, Danika on the spoons and Aunt Vera on the piano! Enjoy!!
